This body butter is delicious and extremely easy to whip up (pun intended). The Cocoa Butter and Evening Primrose Seed Oil add deep healing, hydration and protective action to a light moisturizer base.
We made the essential oil blend Sweet & Spicy (we were craving some warmth), but the options for essential oil customization are endless. Experiment & have fun with it!
Sweet & Spicy Whipped Body Butter
When it comes to DIY skincare products, making a lotion from scratch is one if the more difficult endeavours (and it's still easier than you'd think!). This is mostly because some of the ingredients are hard to find and finicky to work with. We walk you through this entire process (and source all the ingredients) in Day 2 of our Distillation & Formulation Course.
For an at-home DIY, we recommend purchasing a nice, clean natural lotion base (we love Oneka's Unscented Body Lotion) and bumping up the hydration & rejuvenation while adding beautiful aroma.
This Sweet & Spicy Body Butter is like a warm, luxurious hug for every inch of your body. Your skin will lap up the rich moisture and your mind will be instantly calmed by the gorgeous aromatic combo of Benzoin, Clove, Rose, Vanilla & Sandalwood.
200 ml Natural, Unscented Lotion
100 g Cocoa Butter
30 ml Evening Primrose Oil
1 ml Benzoin
10 drops Vanilla Bean
10 drops Sandalwood
1 ml Jojoba Rose
4 drops Clove Bud
Over a double boiler, melt the cocoa butter until it is completely liquid.
Place the natural lotion base into a large bowl.
Using a hand blender, slowly pour in the cocoa liquid, blending as you go.
Once the cocoa is completely combined into the lotion, use the same process to add the Evening Primrose Oil.
Blend the mixture until there is no separation between oil & lotion.
Add the rest of the ingredients and stir thoroughly to combine.
Cover the bowl and leave the lotion to set for a few hours in a cool, dry place.
